About

We read trading journals the way a careful second pair of eyes should — against the events that actually moved the market that day.

Why we exist

Most traders who keep a journal already know what they did. Fewer sit with when they did it — relative to CPI, Bank of England decisions, earnings, or an unexpected headline. Datafabric Grid was founded in Leeds to close that gap: a small advisory practice devoted to event-driven trading journal analysis, not to selling systems or placing orders.

Origin

The practice grew out of years spent on institutional desks where post-trade reviews routinely asked one question first: what was on the calendar? When several colleagues left the sell-side and kept trading their own capital, they kept asking for that same discipline. Informal reviews became booked sessions; booked sessions became Datafabric Grid.

How we work

We treat your journal as primary evidence. We do not replace your strategy. We annotate decisions, size, and timing against the events that coincided with them, then hand the notes back to you. Sessions are available remotely across the UK or in person at our Albion Street office.

Values that show up in the work

  • Candour over comfort — losing days are discussed without theatre.
  • Calendar literacy — scheduled events and surprise headlines are treated as distinct pressures.
  • Client ownership — you keep the journal; we leave; the discipline stays yours.

People

Reviews are led by practitioners who have sat on both sides of the desk: executing risk around event risk, and later reconstructing decisions from private journals. We stay deliberately small so that preparation for each session remains thorough.
