What to send before your first journal review
A practical packing list for traders booking an Event-Driven Journal Review — enough material without drowning the desk.
First-time clients often ask whether we need every tick. We do not. We need enough of your decision trail to place trades beside the events that shared their clock.
Send this
- Two to four weeks of journal pages (PDF, spreadsheet, or clear photos)
- Markets and instruments you traded in that window
- Your usual session hours
- Any standing rules you already use around news (even if you broke them)
Optional but helpful
- A short list of events you remember caring about that month
- One paragraph on what you want examined — size, timing, or emotional notes after losses
Leave this out
Broker statements alone, without rationale notes, rarely support event-driven analysis. Password-protected files we cannot open delay the session. Do not send account login credentials under any circumstance.
Timing
Material should arrive at least forty-eight hours before we meet. That window is how we build the event overlay. If something material arrives late, we may shorten the live portion to protect preparation quality — better a focused hour than an unprepared ninety minutes.
